Ditch the Doomscroll! Try a dumbphone for 30 days and join a cohort of offline adventurers across the country for weekly creative challenges and digital accountability. If you are interested in facilitating an in-person Month Offline in your city or with your community, this will give you all the tools to get started.

Month Offline is a social experience, so you’ll need to flip off with at least one other person in order to participate. You and your flipmate(s) will support each other’s journeys towards attention liberation and hold each other accountable. The more, the merrier.

❉ WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE

You and your mates will receive a MO kit in the mail before your month begins. Inside you’ll find The Dumbphone: a simple and sturdy communication device that comes pre-loaded with a 404 number, unlimited calls and texts, 10 hrs of emergency hotspot data, and a beautifully grainy camera. Your kit also contains everything you’ll need to complete our weekly challenges – including cards that guide you through creative quests and old-school media tools to orient you towards life beyond the screen.      

❉ HOW IT WORKS

Each week, you’ll use your dumbphone to dial into the MoCast — a radio show of sorts, custom made for your cohort. We’ll introduce the theme of the week, hear participants’ stories, and send you on your next mission. At the end of the month, you can return the phone to us. But your new relationship to digital life is yours to keep.

Fear not: you won’t have to fully abandon your old number for the month. Our Dumb Bar will teach you how to set up call forwarding to your dumbphone and text forwarding to your computer, so your contacts will still be able to reach you (if you want them to). You’ll have a functional phone to use that isn’t using you.    

❉ WHAT IT COSTS

A bit of bravery, $49.99, plus a $50 phone deposit which we’ll refund if you return the dumbphone to us before the 10th of the following month. If you choose to keep the dumbphone, you’ll be charged $24.99/mo and can cancel at any time.

The November cohort begins on Saturday, November 1st. The last day to reserve your spot is Thursday, October 23rd. The January cohort begins on Thursday, January 1st. The last day to reserve your spot is on Thursday, December 25th.
